Pros

Fun and open minded workplace.

Cons

Several managers/employees that are not qualified to hold their positions but received promotions because they worked there for more than 5 year. This is not the case with the game dev departments just the support departments.

Navigating a dangerous turning point

Pros

Blizzard is in a period of pretty remarkable success with Overwatch and some of its mainstays like World of Warcraft. The company is growing rapidly and there are lots of opportunities. The culture, though it is shifting, is still far better than most companies. You'll work alongside people, for the most part, that truly care about their work and the products the company makes.

Cons

Blizzard no longer knows what it wants to be, largely due to a huge influx of new leaders and a desire to be more and more profitable. Unfortunately, the company's growing far closer to "profit above all else" than I ever thought it would. The marketing department is huge now, with tons of new people director level and above, and they're all pushing the company to sell, sell, sell. People who want to do the right thing for fans are looked down upon as not thinking strategically. Game development is more and more driven by the business folks, where bigger questions are often "how can we build something to use in a deal with Twitch" than it is "how do we make this fun". Blizzard also expends enormous resources into esports for all of its games, and no one can tell you why, or what value it is bringing to Blizzard. Luckily, while Mike Morhaime still leads the company, I do believe it will still remain committed to making quality games. However, if he ever retires, most of the other leaders who care about making good games are gone, and I think we'll see a massive shift in how the company values good gameplay experiences. While these elements are well known and stated often on glassdoor, Blizzard also pays much less than most companies, and the work life balance is often really rough. Crunch isn't as bad as some other game companies, but you'll still get weird looks if you leave the office before 7pm.

Amazing, dedicated culture

Pros

I have only been an employee at Blizzard for two weeks, but I can already feel the impact the culture is having on me as a person. This will be an experience that will follow me for the rest of my life. There is an immense sense of dedication and pride on the teams, with a work ethic that encourages people to contribute in creative ways. Having come from a much larger (and stuffier) organization, it's certainly a change in pace! Everything is Blizzard culture, and being a nerd and geeking out on your favorite passions is encouraged! I have never been more encouraged to be who I am than I have been since the first day I entered the gates. This is a culture that I can definitely say has been driven from the top down, and I enjoy every minute of it. Not only do they encourage you to be you, be comfortable, but they also encourage you to be healthy. Blizzard spends an immense amount of its resources on helping employees be the best version of themselves (mind, body, and soul). And I think it's just incredible. There is an outdoor volleyball court, outdoor basketball court, outdoor weights, and an indoor gym. Healthy drinks and food are discounted. Bottled water is cheaper than sodas in the vending machines. Salads are rewarded. Walking/biking to work is rewarded. I've picked up a whole bowl of salad + chicken + other stuff for < $5 for lunch! It's just incredible.

Cons

I haven't yet seen any cons to working for Blizzard on a personal level. That's not to say that others may not have an issue, but compared to previous employers I can definitely say Blizzard is pretty freakin' amazing.
