Pros

The best reasons to work for Booz Allen Hamilton include their top training programs and the very strong benefits package. In addition, the experience you get while working on-site at government agencies is very hands-on. There is tremendous opportunity for advancement as well.

Cons

"Mystery" regarding compensation, promotion and overall career advancement. While there is tremendous opportunity for advancement, the culture of the firm is to "hide" the rewards for making Level IV (Senior Associate) and going up the career ladder. It can be frustrating because you don't know if it is "worth it" to work long hours, nights and weekends and being away from your family. There needs to be more visibility into the compensation structure for Level IVs and beyond.

Pros

Booz Allen Hamilton is a flexible place to work and typically requires on 42 billable hours per work week. Depending on the government contract and client, Booz Allen Hamilton will allow employees to work from home or customize their schedules. Booz Allen provides $5,000 towards education with 40 hours a years that can be used toward a degree or certiciation program. Booz Alen Hamilton is family friendly and has health benefits that cover infertility treatments as well as $5,000 toward adoption fees.

Cons

Gov't contracts can have issues. Make certain you understand your contract and what your day to day job will be. I have been on several contracts and some government contracts can require you to interface with difficult governement clients who are unfamiliar with their needs or want you to provide "face time" as oppossed to challenging work. You want to be seen as a consultant, one who advises, as oppossed to a contractor who is sometimes brought in to fulfuill a specific and narrow task in scope. Find out who the client will be and what the situation is at client site.
