Pros

Many employees are allowed to telecommute. However, although telecommuting is very convenient for these people, it detracts from the effectiveness of the overall organization, as people are dispersed all over the world and have to rely excessively on conference calls, etc. Thus even the smallest decisions end up taking too much time to make.

Cons

The company is too splintered up, with many development groups all over the world. Thus cooperation and collaboration are difficult to achieve. The pricing of the company's products is Byzantine -- I won't go into any further details. The company is way too top-heavy: there are many directors who are individual contributors; and there are way too many VPs.

Pros

Salaries are among the highest in the software industry.

Cons

Extremely political environment. Coin operated. Executive staff continues to pay themselves handsomely while share holder return is dismal. Just see the latest Silicon Valley salary reviews, and compare the compensation and perks rankings of the CEO with the share holder return he had delivered in the time he has been around. Same for the EVP of Sales.

Pros

One of the top names in the industry. Good benefits package.

Cons

No information sharing between parts of the company. Hard to find any job related information. Not following best industry practice, tons of legacy code, slow to upgrade/refactor. No incentives to work better, no company wide events, no identity with the company. Each group fight the same problems already solved in other groups. Hard to move between groups, easier to get job in another company instead of raise/promotion. No clear career path, no separation of technical/management ladders. Many honorary titles, people of no impact.
