      Impossible for new employees to succeed due to good old buddy system.

      Pros

      One can go for a long time with doing little to nothing and still be able to keep the job or even change jobs within the company. Work & Life balance is really respected. Most of the people, 90% of the work-force is out of the parking lot by 4:50pm.

      Cons

      Communication with employees and supervisors is unprofessional and futile since most of the time job duties are unclear. As a result, one finds it hard to keep oneself motivated and arguments are rampant. Year-end reviews don't mean anything for the employee's professional growth and career. Old buddy system is at work all the time.

      Pros

      Cargill overall has done well by me. I've been promoted twice in 4 years. There is a lot opportunity for college grads to take on large scale projects and be in charge of many areas of the plants. They have strong core values and safety and integrity is always key. There are tons of opportunities to gain and build on your knowledge base. Senior leadership has a pretty good understanding on challenges at the plant level and Safety is lived, not just talked about.

      Cons

      Too many large initiatives happening at the same time. As a manager it can be difficult to drive change, hold ourselves and others accountable for the change, and convince reluctant employees to change when we have 3 or 4 large scale changes every couple of years or so.
