Pros

One of the good company in the world. Employee Friendly. Good Salary. Good Bonus.

Cons

Indian Management is worst especially those who lead Bangalore Center. As is the King so are the subjects. Those who know the art of bucketing will shine and grow. No proper yardstick to measure performance, everything on papers when it comes to growth Manager's opinion matters most, so be good with Managers although he is a fool if you want to Join Cargill.

Pros

Cargill has a noble purpose of nourishing the world, and strives to be the partner of choice. It's global reach and perspective is fascinating and if you choose to seek out exposure to this it can be very rewarding. The people are for the most part amazing- some of the best folks you can find. The company takes it's guiding principles very seriously, so you can have confidence you're working for an entity that is on the level ethically.

Cons

In many ways, Cargill is not a meritocracy. You may work very hard and get results, but when it comes times for promotions it may matter more who you know than your track record. This seems to be slowly changing, but can be highly frustrating. There are still pockets of the good-ole boy system alive and well within this company- you find them mostly out in the field, not as much in the headquarters. For years they touted the "Hire to Retire" approach to talent management, however within the last year the corporation has initiated a reorg that has resulted in quite a bit of lay offs. No longer is this the stable privately held company I joined 13 years ago - there is seemingly very little safety or job security of late.

Pros

Was once one of the best companies to work for in Minneapolis. Had a long term view that allowed it to grow during cyclic economic times Great coworkers who cared about their colleges and doing what was right for the company. People were always willing to put in extra effort to get things done

Cons

Leadership decided to off shore most of IT as well as finance, accounting and several other functions. What once was a great place to work has become toxic as jobs were off shored or eliminate. Those that survived are walking on egg shells as they wait for the next axe to fall. Leadership is driven by corporate politics. Salary increases, promotions and retention are driven by if your in the right clique. Even the retained top talent is leaving these days. The impact the lose of tribal knowledge and top talent will have wont truly be felt for a few more years. When the lose is recognized it will be too late and recovery will be long and painful Leadership appears to be driven by short term goals.
