Good place to work

Pros

Great location; friendly, social people; nice open plan offices with staff consulted on decor plans; breakfast, tea & coffee, sweets provided; flexible working opportunities; OK benefits package, including discounts on local businesses; two yoga classes a week - free; regular communication on the state of the company; upcoming projects, etc - sometimes too much. Focus on personal development and access to training courses. Good holiday amount - up to 30 days dependent on how long you've been there. Great brands.

Cons

Lots of changes in structures, management, HR processes. Big focus on praising commercial and events departments, and not enough on editorial, marketing, digital and other teams. Low salaries in some areas, and regular promotions and raises in others, like sales/commercial/senior management. Pressure to stay late to impress.. The usual big business issues.

A great company with a focus around the positive future

Pros

This place has a heart. You can make a real difference if you want to and stand out if you are looking to get noticed. The people are amazing and the location is fantastic. Change happens quickly so you feel like there is always something better about to happen. The breakfast is free, there are social drinks for charity at the end of every month when the whole office is invited to finish early and meet all the colleagues from around the building. Having worked at a few similar publishing and exhibition companies in the past this is definitely in the top two for me. Not too big you wont get noticed and be able to do well and not too small that you don't have the support and tools you need to do your job effectively. The bonus structure is great too with the opportunity to earn overage if you smash your targets.

Cons

The company is going through great change and its hard if you aren't adaptable to that but those that stick with the change are rewarded.

Pros

Ability & achievement are fairly rewarded at Centaur. The people are fun and smart, so it's a great place to learn and grow. We're a modern media business, so investment in product development and innovation ensure Centaur is a never-boring place to work.

Cons

Being part of a plc the size of Centaur can sometimes result in the longer term strategy and vision for the company getting lost in the midst of our day-to-day schedule.
