Shameful and unhealthy workplace for anyone who’s not white, privileged and Male.
Pros
The legacy titles are good for the CV of early career staff
Cons
Toxic male environment from c suite down. Tolerated abuse from senior leadership of the legal titles, covered up and managed by female leaders too uncomfortable to truly help in abuse of power situations at the time. Big wages stopped an all female leadership from helping the very staff that the likes of Marketing Week reported on for other companies. Those who buckled under the weight of a toxic environment were usually paid off and ushered out under silent circumstances. On paper this company will wheel out the few self proclaimed ‘diverse and equality’ leaders (white males) when the obvious 80’s sexist, homophobic, and racist behaviour looks to be unveiled outside the walls. 2021 will see companies like this unveiled and staff complacent in the cover up held accountable. Do your research on this company, read between the lines, observe the all male leadership that seem to be inexplicably capable of climbing in their career whilst the company is severely under performing. There are many many other truly wonderful publishers to consider before selling your soul to tolerate a Centaur role. We Work does not wash the stains of this terribly managed company, which is brilliant if you happen to be a chosen crony or willing participant to the awful bullying that is widespread. What a shame as some wonderfully talented people in editorial teams still exist in this outwardly great facing place.
