      Deloitte is a solid firm to begin a new career.

      Pros

      Deloitte provides a solid environment to develop skills and learn in an environment with some of the top leadership in the industry. Deloitte has good compensation and learning programs and the wide variety of available work provides a solid place to begin a career.

      Cons

      In Tokyo the work life balance is difficult to maintain due to the nature of business in Japan. Also, the firm is still learning how to fit in well as a part of the global firm which leaves many gaps between the global (or US) firm and the local firm here in Japan.

      Pros

      Great job fif you're resh out of college. They're big on campus recruits.

      Cons

      They don't seem to value what experienced hires bring to the table. They can somehow equate 12 years industry & smaller consulting company experience to that of a Consultant. The lowest rung within AERS.

      In for ambitious

      Pros

      Good to get start if you are ambitious enough to place your career first. As an associate you are going to work in the front line and gain much knowledge not taught in your MBA texts. Have fun in the parties if you are a party guy/gal. Love travel? Come here.

      Cons

      Bad work-life balance. Opaque promotion and performance valuation criteria. Just opposite to the pros, if you do like party, if you don't like social, if you don't like travel, this is not the place for you. You need to be proactive and dynamic enough to be staffed. Take care of your business yourself, don't count on others.
