Pros
Deloitte Tax is a good place to get your foot into the door. Potential for diverse experience at a level not readily available in smaller or midsize CPA firms. Depending on what you want to do in life, this may not necessarily be a good thing. The firm offers plenty of options though if you're not satisfied in a given area of taxation.
Cons
Management typically has a small firm attitude. Over the years I've worked at several offices and notice some broad patterns-micro management, internal politics, lip service to diversity. Partners and directors will micro manage a project to a point where others don't have autonomy to run with the engagement. Promotions are largely given based on how much the partners like you and have very little to do with what you're actually capable of doing. Although national leadership pays plenty of lip-service to diversity and women's initiative, I invite them to go through their partner lists to identify any correlation between their minority and female partners / directors as compared to female and minority Sr. Managers and below.
