Pros

DoiT is an excellent place for software engineers who want real ownership and autonomy. Engineers are trusted to own projects end to end, from design through implementation and production. You are encouraged to think independently, challenge assumptions, and propose your own ideas rather than just execute predefined tickets. The tech stack is strong and modern, and there is a clear bias toward solving real customer problems instead of building abstract demos. Engineering decisions matter and have visible impact. You get exposure to distributed systems, large scale data, cloud infrastructure, and real world complexity that you rarely see in more rigid organizations. There is also a strong culture of learning. If you want to experiment, improve systems, or refactor things the right way, you generally have the space to do so as long as you can justify the value. High performers are given a lot of freedom and responsibility, which is refreshing.

Cons

The level of ownership comes with pressure. There is less hand holding than in more traditional companies, and you are expected to manage ambiguity and move forward without perfect information. This can be challenging for engineers who prefer very structured environments.

Pros

DoiT is a strong environment for people who like moving fast, learning constantly, and being held to a high bar. Ignore many of the negative reviews. 90% of them come from people who were not willing or able to keep up with a startup pace and were looking for a comfortable, low effort role. This is not that kind of company. There is a clear performance culture. Regular reviews, clear expectations, and accountability are real. People who do not perform are put on PIP, which is exactly how it should be. I want to work with high energy, engaged teammates who care about results and are willing to evolve. From a technical perspective, the stack is strong and modern. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you are not just a services arm. You are close to the product, influence real design decisions, and are encouraged to contribute back to the platform. That level of trust and inclusion is rare and genuinely motivating. If you are a high performer, curious, and self driven, this is a great place to grow and have outsized impact.

Cons

This is not a slow or relaxed environment. Expectations are high and the pace can be intense. If you want a predictable, low pressure job where you can coast, this will not be a good fit. Ambiguity is part of the job and not everyone is comfortable with that.

Pros

The company is fully remote and does remote better then most. Everyone I work with is fully committed and nobody drops the ball. Good healthcare benefits. Good base salary.

Cons

Everyone is under a huge amount of stress and a lot of my colleagues are running in autopilot trying to meet unrealistic deadlines with whatever resources the team has. Quality is sacrifized for the sake of getting to market sooner which results in additional work for the engineers and creates long term reputational damage. The platform is held with duct tape because teams are never allowed to spend enough time to repay technical debt and it's only a matter of time before it becomes completely unmaintainable. Since the layoffs that happened last year leadership has become very dishonest and the level of gaslighting during All Hands sessions is truly demoralizing. There's an ongoing attempt at manipulating Glassdoor scores without making any real effort to fix the root cause for employee dissatisfaction. That mythical developer in Riga who started 4 years ago as junior and is now staff doesn't exist. The company loves dry promotions that give you a new job title and more responsiblities without any salary increase to go with it,

Thank you for writing this. I appreciate you also calling out what is working: we are fully remote, the team shows up for each other, and compensation and benefits are competitive. On the point about Glassdoor “manipulation,” I want to be explicit about what I personally asked employees to do. This is the EXACT message I sent: "Hey - As you know, we are currently looking to grow the R&D team, and I know that prospective hires trust the voice of current employees far more than they trust management. Would you be open to leaving a review on Glassdoor? Not looking for sugar-coating, just an honest take on what it's like to work at DoiT." That request was not for 5-star reviews, and it should never feel like pressure from anyone. If any manager asked for a specific rating or tried to “coordinate” reviews, that is not acceptable - please share an example with (you can use go/saysomething if you'd like to remain anonymous)
