Pros

company swag, okayish onboarding structure

Cons

the company is not at glamorous as it seems. the unlimited pto is a myth because you have to ask everytime your manager to approve even 4-5 days (given the allowed is 22 days by law). The workload and processes are extremely stressful and heavy with maangement always pushing for more and more. It's widely spread and encouraged to go through an "agenda" and not even ask basic question such as "how are you doing" Additionally, remote first is also a myth because if you want to travel for more than a week from your current address, you have to ask for an approval, and guess what do they look at? Numbers. Don't waste your time here

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. There is a ton of flexibility and autonomy that comes with being part of a completely remote team. We want Do’ers to make the most out of their experience with us, while also ensuring that all objectives and key results are clearly defined and met to a high standard along the way. DoiT has an unlimited PTO policy - and like all companies, we ask that employees submit all PTO requests for approval and discussion in advance so that managers can balance PTO equitably, discuss plans for coverage, and ensure we are tracking to meet and exceed individual and team goals. We also have a clearly defined policy and review process for Digital Nomading, which is defined in our Employee Handbook as working from a different location for a prolonged period of time (more than 2 weeks). We have a number of employees that leverage this policy and process to work from different locations at different points during the year - myself included. But every request and every situation is different, and it’s key that we understand and discuss all elements up front so that everyone is aligned on expectations, timing, locational nuances, employment laws, and any other complexities worth considering between origin points and destinations. All Do’ers can review our complete Digital Nomading policy at Go/Handbook, but please reach out if you have any further questions. Lastly, while a co-created agenda for a 1:1 (or any meeting) can help make the most out of the time, it’s not a substitute for a manager’s need to also demonstrate genuine support, care and interest in the people they work with every day. I’m sorry to hear that you feel the balance has been off kilter. If you’re comfortable, I’d strongly encourage you to talk to your manager about it - but if not, please reach out to me, your People Ops Business Partner, or a leader elsewhere in your department. We have this expectations for all managers and find that most Do’ers have had a great experience, but we’ll be working to reinforce it in upcoming leadership development programs.
