Pros

Very high salary. Manageable working level. Good balance with family life. Long vacations. Predictable working rhythm. There is a great pride in what we do, and we are committed to excellence. Management is generally competent and nepotism is almost non existent.

Cons

Boring, very boring and repetitive job. Almost not career propspects. You'll most likely retire doing the same as in your 30s.

A most excellent institution

Pros

Exceedingly well organised in MOST departments with some very dedicated staff. The level of knowledge, skills, and experience makes the EPO a delightful and challenging place to work. The staff is multi-national and predominantly highly motivated.

Cons

Like any large institution there are many people who should not continue to be employed as they are either coasting to retirement or able to 'hide' in the structure of the organisation. There needs to be some clear investment in newer technology.
