Pros

- The mid-level Elsevier employees are phenomenal. Every single one I've interacted with has been extremely competent and sharp. - Some funds are available to help journal editors travel for annual meetings.

Cons

- The primary system used by journal editors—Editorial Manager—is a hot flaming sack of excrement. It has the worst UX I've ever seen in my life, never using three clicks for a basic function when it can work in an extra ten or twenty and failing to follow basic principles of good design. Bizarre, complicated, many-step workarounds are required for even the most straightforward functions. - I can't comment on pay for actual employees, but those of receiving stipends to work as journal editors don't make very much—at least not at my small journal in the social sciences.

I was an editor for several years on clinical content unfortunately the senior leadership was not from a medical background and it was frustrating when trying to create quality medical information

Thank you for your review. Elsevier is not a medical company. However, we help healthcare professionals stay up to date with current and credible information, helping them deliver consistent levels of care and improve patient outcomes. All our content are peer-reviewed by subject matter experts. The peer review system exists to validate academic work, helps to improve the quality of published research.

Pros

Great work life balance Interesting products Great colleagues

Cons

Internal politics are high in this company. Senior management acting like children and not willing to listen or take into account feedback. Upper senior management feels like its easy to wash their hands off issues and handball it to other people to deal with.

Thank you for your review. After working with us for close to seven years, truthfully, your list of cons does not reflect our culture or who we are as an organisation. This is is not the experience that we want our employee to have. If you don't mind, we would love the opportunity investigate this further but we need to hear more from you. It's important that we continuously learn and improve. Feel free to send us an email - elseviergdrev@elsevier.com
