Should be better though it isn't all bad

Pros

Good friendly and helpful people, flexibility with working hours Multiple locations offers travel opportunities at home and abroad, benefits are reasonable but could be better. Generally relaxed office atmosphere

Cons

Incompetent mid-level management, advancement is often a case of who you know or how long you've at the company and it shows. Too much outsourcing has cost the company dear in good employees and morale is very low in a lot of locations because of this The focus on flagship products such as Science Direct has a detrimental effect on other products. Customer Service is poor, not the front-line staff, but the tools used and the overall management. Cost cutting, there's only so much you can cut, in fact there's numerous cases where it costs more than it saves, money isn't everything

A frustrating place to work

Pros

Good salary and benefits, and several excellent people make for an intellectually challenging environment. Comfortable surroundings and perks.

Cons

Several weak mid-level and higher managers result in poor leadership and decision-making. Corporate mentality emphasizes meeting numbers without real regard to quality of work.

Pros

not much. There really is not much. There are trainings for product and sales but its all inwardly looking, what elsevier thinks is needed, but not to market needs

Cons

-movement of staff base on past sucess not whether they have what it takes for the next role -movement of staff strongly dependent on how many years in a role (quantity) not quality or fit,
