"I can't wait to take my soul back" - Recruiter Aerotek Employee Review

Pros

They hire you out of college with no experience, the atmosphere is incredibly loose (bordering on unprofessional at times), and everyone is 35 years old or less so it is really easy to get along with most people. If you make a little bit of an effort, you can actually learn a little bit about sales, HR, etc. The company definitely embraces the phrase, "work hard, play harder."

Cons

This place steals your soul. You are expected to work 50-60 hours a week while being compensated for 40. The tiered commission structure puts money directly into the pockets of managers, DBOs, regional and corporate leadership atop the pyramid. People are only nice when things are going well. It is one of the least professional places I have experienced as an employee or customer. Communication is lacking between all entities. Time off is frowned upon, but is one of the major selling points. You're out of pocket 1.2 Gs a year for medical costs, and even then you pay 20%. There is nowhere to go besides sales. Since recruiters are at the bottom, they are always wrong. Carefrontation is really just arguing. Account managers should be called Micro Managers. The endless stories about how great the company is makes you a little sick to your stomach when you know people who work for other staffing agencies that have a better business plan and make 2X as much money as you do in the same position.

Pros

Great people, great training, great entry level opportunity to get into recruiting and sales. If you are successful you will make more here than about anywhere else. Performing Recruiters are making $55k-$75k. Great Recruiters are making $100k+. Every large office has salespeople making $200k-$400k. Culture is 100% committed and generally cool type-A's you would want to have a beer with. The skills, drive, and sense of urgency you learn at Aerotek serve you well anywhere you may go later.

Cons

If you are just looking for a low-commitment 8-5 job while posting on social media about where you are partying that night...you will not like Aerotek. Success requires an all in approach both in work ethic and active support of the culture. That is not for everyone. There are Political Science grads 3 years out of college making $200k+, but there is a price to be paid. All the tough work comes first. If you are not up for the level of work and commitment, Aerotek is not for you. If you are, none of this is really a "con" As far a real cons go, the benefits are only OK, and finding work/life balance is pretty difficult.
