Consistent good pay, mediocre long-term benefits. Great job, mediocre 'career' path. - Technical Services Epic Employee Review

Pros

Challenging work in a non-corporate atmosphere Fair to good autonomy working with healthcare organizations to solve issues creatively Consistent generous pay raises on an annual basis, salary gets to be difficult to part with. Ranking-based merit is however subjective and difficult to elicit how you're ranked. After the initial two difficult first years getting up-to-speed with lots of extra hours to bring up your competency, the hours get to be more manageable. Never expect a slow day though. We provide software to truly top-tier healthcare providers. It's great exposure to many organizations I'd consider working for directly if I were to leave Epic.

Cons

Benefits like 401K and parental leave are the bare minimum Aside from sabbatical benefits every 5 years, you never get more than 3 weeks' paid vacation. Work from home is rarely allowed; policy has become somehow more restrictive recently. Opportunities for advancement are few and far between unless you're solely interested in direct management of internal employees. Since those duties are on top of your day-to-day ones, it's not initially attractive.
