Pros

Good work-life balance due to mostly part-time being the only one available Lower side of decent technique training

Company heavily values quantity over quality Company claims opportunities for raises are abundant but metrics required to qualify for said raises are unrealistic You are constantly pressured to move up levels (be faster) This specific center did not offer commission for the waxes but the front desk associates got bonuses for the wax passes they sold. The center manager at the time of my employment bragged to me about getting a $1,000 bonus. Overall treatment of waders and environment needs a lot of improvement Waxers are not paid what they are worth. This specific center only paid us minimum wage. It was often lower than most fast food establishments

Pros

My waxer coworkers are fun to work with although they definitely have different waxer friend groups that exclude some of us

I’ve been made to work 6 days a week, opening shift after closing shifts to make up for hiring only 2 other GSA’s who have no availability so everything rides on me and if I’m sick I get reprimanded. Policies are not explained most of the time and they get upset after the fact if you aren't aware of them. It’s almost impossible to ever make commission since prices are unrealistic and the tedious work is only paid minimum wage. They say the most important duty is wax pass sales but set the bar too high. They watch your every move and take pictures of you for the littlest of things, I got in trouble for eating even though I was off the clock 30 mins before I opened shop. Most of the time manager duties fall on GSA’s and it’s almost impossible to use time off even though waxers and managers do it regularly. There’s been multiple instances of employees being endangered and assaulted, threatened, and 2 instances of GSA’s being unalived at work yet take no action to prevent this or keep us feeling safe even though they say they will. My center has water dripping in a bucket in our hallway regularly, we have to manually turn on the electric box every morning and sometimes our hall light doesn’t turn on. Our outlets have caught up in flames. We have product droughts for weeks and aren’t given cleaning products for weeks on end.
