Pros

Good for initial exposure to Hospitality

Cons

FSH has no bench strength (all talented employees will leave the company at the earliest opportunity). Senior management does not walk the talk Toxic atmosphere that simply inspires people to leave. Does not articulate any clear strategy for the company – except that the employees should observe the “golden rule” which is supposed to serve as a panacea for all things (this gets old very quickly). If you want a bell-weather hotel for what happens when you lose money and the attendant effect on staff etc., the Four Seasons Whistler is a great example. The hotel has lost money from day one and, because of highly variable occupancy due to weather and season – the hotel has a constant staffing and staff housing problem. The management (below planning committee level) are expected to fill in the “gaps” meaning your days can be 12-16 hours long with no additional compensation. Upper management at the Hotel have checked out mentally and do not want to hear about or deal with it (they are referred to as the "Walking Dead").

Pros

Great immediate management (up to department head), good travel benefits (although not as good as previous years), health insurance excellent. Travel benefits are nice when you can use them. Become better at what do you, but with an emotional cost.

Cons

Toooo profit heavy and want to please owners versus staff, worklife balance needs improvement although it's getting there. Pulse Survey results need to be taken more seriously by PC and not put on department heads and asssitant managers, need accountability on PC to action. Terrible employee meals, especially if not AM Monday through Friday. Poor corporate ELT team since post covid times.
