Pros

Benefits are good. That’s it.

You will be the messenger pigeon to deliver bad news to your team. If you speak your opinion it will only equal work for you. Even if it’s way outside the scope of your role. Safety issues? Paperwork. Food issues? Paperwork. Staffing issues? Paperwork. Count the papers at the end of the year. Show them on a graph and do nothing to fix them the following year. You get the privilege of watching your union staff lose benefits every contract renwell then sit in a 1 on 1 with your boss who asks why is moral so low? HR is not your friend here. They will throw you or anyone in their vision under the bus. In 2022 8 supervisors left, not fired not promoted, left. My first year 2021 no one left but after the accident in July and how management treated everyone one everything changed. 70% of staff was 15 years or more (many on my team above 20 years) that is now less then 10%. From the co-workers I still talk to are either looking for new work or are counting the days until retirement. This is 2024. Avoid this place until management gets renewed.

Pros

Good salary, paternity, parent bonding leave is wonderful, 401k, vacation, etc

Cons

Maintaining a work/life balance was difficult due to being forced in on days off or forced over after your shift. Training was kinda throwing you in and hoping you get it. Short term layoffs can feel unpredictable sometimes. It feels like there's a divide between company and union employees.
