Pros

The Hyatt in St. Louis, Missouri, has managed to get a few good professionals under its belt, from whom, you can learn much about the industry and increase your own skills. If you are the loyal, punch-the-clock, do-your-time and go home type, this is a great place to work because no one will bother you and your job will likely be secure. Most of the managers are down-to-earth types which makes for easy communication when necessary. Many celebrities stay at the hotel, so if you're into meeting famous folk, you'll probably have plenty of chances.

Cons

The hotel has one goal, and one goal only: make as much money as it can by any means necessary. That sounds like most businesses these days and that's the problem! Hyatt, like many companies, preach loyalty and dedication to its employees but doesn't practice it towards them. Everyone working at the Hyatt is expendable. When business is slow, you're out of work - not because they can't afford to keep you working, but rather, because they can't afford to keep you and increase profits. Hyatt wont make any sacrifices for its staff. The benefits are bottom of the barrel and advancement is almost entirely political. Getting close to the right person(s) is equal to being highly qualified - they net the same results. Most managers are spineless and wont stand up to corporate, or other managers for that matter, for their staff. If a manager doesn't like you, you probably wont last - even if that manager is over another department.

Pros

Great work environment, team was helpful and really nice, workload wasn’t overwhelming

Cons

Didn’t feel super included on the team as a contractor, expectations were consistently unclear, they tell you it’s temp to perm, but could be years before a permanent role is available
