Pros

For someone coming from a corporate background, the startup world has always fascinated me. Doing PR and campaign management at one of the biggest media companies in the world was really just about picking which A-level celebrity to collaborate with next and brainstorming over a grande half-caf coconut latte about what to run as our next campaign. All because of the safety net that comprised of a vast pool of contacts, excellent reputation and unlimited financial resources, which meant that even if a new project tanked, the future of the company was never at stake, so there wasn't ever a real sense of challenge or responsibility. Well, I wanted the challenge. I live for challenges. I feel like I don't grow unless I'm forced to step out of my comfort zone. I wanted the responsibility and creative freedom that up until today means that sometimes I'm going into a project knowing I'm going to make mistakes. At Inkitt seeing how the smallest input can change the entire outcome of projects is as daunting as it is invigorating. There's no micromanagement, your abilities are trusted and constantly encouraged. Building something from scratch, seeing how far you've come and your imprints along the way gives a sense of satisfaction unlike anything else.

Cons

If you're not ready to pour your heart and soul into a job just yet, then this probably isn't the place for you. The hours are intense, responsibilities per person are at an all time high, but the team's energy is bound to keep your creative spark alive and there's nothing the perpetual flow of coffee can't solve. If you want to go for the professional ride of your life, saddle up and join us!

Pros

- Being able to lead projects independently from A to Z and be trusted for it - Engaging daily with a creative and passionate team - Being part of exciting new projects in a fast-paced, fast-evolving industry - Steep learning curve, you'll be pushed out of your comfort zone and grow fast

Cons

Inkitt is a fast-paced start-up with no set playbook. People who love structure and need to be managed and told what to do may find it challenging.

Pros

Inkitt is one of the few places that actually sits between tech and media in a way that works. A manuscript comes in, real reader behavior tells you whether the story has legs, and the team turns that signal into a career for the author. I think about reader retention and narrative pacing in the same conversation now, which I didn't before.

Cons

The flip side is that the playbook doesn't fully exist yet. Some weeks you're inventing the process while running it. Energizing if you like ambiguity, exhausting if you don't. Worth being honest with yourself about which camp you're in before signing on.
