Pros

- young team - nice topic (reading, books...) - it is fun to work with authors and writer

Cons

- management team has no skills - leadership is changing his minds and direction every week - they don't care about free time - you work more hours for less money than anywhere else - just talking about culture but there is nothing

Inkitt Response

Hi there, Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your honest feedback with us. We are sorry about your negative experience related to our workload and management style, and we want to reassure you that we are continuously working to be better. Back in the day, we were a scrappy small shop, really having to hustle hard to bring the product to life. This, more often than we would have liked, resulted in people working pretty long hours to achieve our goals. We’ve come a long way—and since closing our Series A funding with Kleiner Perkins, we have begun the process of rapidly professionalizing our working environment to create a healthy culture for everyone at Inkitt. Thanks again for the feedback, and I wish you a nice, sunny summer ahead!

Pros

- Being able to lead projects independently from A to Z and be trusted for it - Engaging daily with a creative and passionate team - Being part of exciting new projects in a fast-paced, fast-evolving industry - Steep learning curve, you'll be pushed out of your comfort zone and grow fast

Cons

Inkitt is a fast-paced start-up with no set playbook. People who love structure and need to be managed and told what to do may find it challenging.

Pros

Inkitt is one of the few places that actually sits between tech and media in a way that works. A manuscript comes in, real reader behavior tells you whether the story has legs, and the team turns that signal into a career for the author. I think about reader retention and narrative pacing in the same conversation now, which I didn't before.

Cons

The flip side is that the playbook doesn't fully exist yet. Some weeks you're inventing the process while running it. Energizing if you like ambiguity, exhausting if you don't. Worth being honest with yourself about which camp you're in before signing on.
