Pros

1) Brand Recognition 2) Numbers game and if you figure it out you'll be left alone 3) Training Opportunities available if your able to convince local branch management to see beyond 30 days. 4) If you fail at 3 but attain 2 then you have the ability to proceed with 3 without permission 5) If you can reach them there are smart people who work for JCI. 6) Metasys 7) Panoptix 8) YK's and YLAA's.

Cons

1) Brand Recognition 2) Johnson Controls doesn't pay their sales people. I personally have waited for payment on a job for almost 3 years despite job being 100% paid, on target and completed within 1 year. Zero explanation from branch manager or upper management leadership. 3) They don't expect sales people to stay beyond 2 years. I was literally told this by branch manager. Think labor utilization capacity. Meanwhile, keep in mind #2 above. As Johnson Controls would say, "Link Them!" 4) Sales people are held financially accountable for ineptitude of operations. 5) JCI is big on "Altering Behavior." So policies are put in place that are designed to change your patterns. No biggy right? I mean this is Ops Management 101. Here's the kicker, you are graded on A but expected to perform B. In other words, their policies don't align with the expectations of their employees. So no MATTER what they say always do what your evaluated on. It doesn't matter if you do 1000 training sessions on other topics their pushing. You are graded on A despite all the push you will get to perform at B. 5) "SOA's" run the branch financials, whether BM admits it or not. Yet, these borderline data entry clerks tell you how to do your job. What's worse, these people have zero experience in the trade, rarely even lack a college degree and are 100% focused on themselves and their metrics and could care less about how this impacts sales, service, or overall reputation within your market. Classic inward focus via operations. IE they serve themselves and not the customer. If you interview here you want to meet the SOA first or at minimum ask the BM how involved the SOA is. 6) This place is a revolving door. I mean technicians, office support, sales, branch management, regional leadership, and executive teams. At every level their is revolving door. Sure you got some guys at 20+. HOWEVER, THATS BECAUSE THEY HAVE PENSIONS. THEY'D BE GONE WITHOUT THAT. 7) JCI stands for "Just changed it!" Every six months something changes and you will know about it via the 1000 emails from executives checking a box and the training they will shove down your throat 30 days before the end of the fiscal year. Again, b/c that big wig has a box to check and be damned if s/he put it off to the last 30 days of the fiscal year. 8) If I could sub contract filter changing I would. That's how inefficient my local branch is. KNOW what you could potentially be dealing with. Ask around in your community BEFORE accepting any offer. This is my branch experience and I know its not the case for all branches. However, know that my experience is much more common than you think. I've been here for many many years. I know people from all over the country and world within JCI. If your going into BE you better interview JCI hard. Don't let them think their interviewing you. They need you way more than you need them.

Pros

Decent pay, good PTO and benefits

Cons

Everything else. ZERO training. They hand you a laptop (which is garbage) and say good luck. There is no "team." Everyone is on their own. The senior techs all reached their peak 20 years ago and don't even know what BACnet is. The bureaucracy is unbearable. Ordering a simple part is nearly impossible. There are so many apps you have to check in on everyday and they care more about those metrics than they care about the service their customers are receiving. If you want to get your butt kicked everyday with zero support at a company that specializes in taking advantage of their customers, this is the job for you.
