Pros

KPMG offers good training program to new employees and there is great opportunitiy to get exposure of a variety of industries. This would be a good opportunity for someone who is interested in working in a fast paced, dynamic and deadline-driven enrivonment to get oneself fast pushed all the time.

Cons

Too much overtime working and sometimes unpaid for the time you overworked. For mega IPO projects, staff are responsible for finding hotels by themselves and usually due to the fact that the KPMG will pay the bill, the budget becomes extremely tight and from time to time hotel conditions are poor. Turnover rate is high always and staff do not have much freedom in choosing the projects they are interested in. Sometimes the process is much like a lottery and someone who is unlucky enough may ended up with a eleven months business trip out of the city.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
