Pros

On the job education and opportunities to advance. KPMG also has great opportunities to work abroad or seek international experience. Yearly training programs are fully funded including travel expenses. You will not find experience like this in the private sector. Working for KPMG will prepare you for a job as an accountant or controller in whatever industry you wish to pursue. KPMG also treats you like family. They are the friendliest of the big 4 and are always willing to take time talking to prospective new hires. Overall, a fantastic organization. The only downside is you will work a lot.

Cons

Work life balance is difficult to achieve.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
