Pros

You can move around from club to club if you want to live in many different places. The members are generally a blast to work with and you can make the job very fun if you have a good sales team. If the sales team seems like people you wouldn't want to spend more then a few minutes with, you should seriously reconsider taking a job here. You spend 10 to 12 hours per day with these people and if you like them they can become your good friends and it's a blast. You could also not get along with any of them and life will be horrible. Once you have a good rhythm of selling and setting up appointments, you can make your own work out break schedule and lunch break schedule etc. The environment of being around a bunch of fitness enthusiasts is a blast because you learn a lot and everyone is constantly sharing best practices with their workouts and diets. If you are a genuinely nice person and it doesn't pain you to smile at people and be helpful, this is a great place to be. I was in this position for 3 years in 3 different clubs. Some were great, others were not so great. Your sales manager here will make or break you experience in the sales department. Meaning, if you don't think you'll get along with your sales manager, I recommend you look at a different club. The reason being is that you will likely spend at least 2 hours per day in direct contact with them.

Cons

The nature of the Sales Manager role is one where they have to micromanage you (or feel that they have to) so they will constantly be checking in with you. This is coming from someone who did well selling and the managers had little to worry about with me, so I can only imagine how much more micromanaged someone who was having a bad month performance wise would feel. The sales managers are under a lot of pressure from corporate to hit club "metrics" so you just need to appease them and do what they ask (for the most part) or your life will be a constant struggle EVEN if your'e selling past what quota says you are to sell.

Pros

Members are great and free membership is a perk. Coworkers are supportive.

Cons

You will be micromanaged to death, whether you have three weeks of experience or 20 years. Policies are vague. Communication with leadership is poor. You can be a strong, experienced performer and have very few classes, or brand new and get 8 a week. There appears to be no logic or strategy to anything that happens.
