Pros

Most everyone from the IC (individual contributor) level have been great to work with. Perks are pretty nice in terms of reimbursements. E.g. they allow you to reimburse up to $2k for personal travel and other benefits

Cons

Most everyone from the IC (individual contributor) level have been great to work with, but worse and worse the higher you go. The rat race is real here and those on higher levels are not afraid to stomp you down to get themselves further up. There is a SEVERE lack of empathy the higher up you go. The benefits are great, but they can take it away at any minute. The benefit of reimbursing travel is amazing, but they took it away for about a year or two before adding it back due to the huge backlash the change received. This is the dichotomy of pros being cons is the overall essence of the company. LinkedIn will say they are data focused and then turn around and lay off the Data Science team. The remaining teams will have to cobble together what's left. The culture has changed. The consistent high ratings are all from years past (pre-2023). Since then, there has been a gradual and consistent decline in culture. Urgency has dominated the workplace even if it is the smallest ask. Toxic positivity is prevalent throughout all manager levels to varying degrees to the point where we have to inflate our employee voice survey results. Work life balance is more like work life integration where work takes precedent over life. Do not expect consistent work hours, One day you could work for 4 hours, and another 14+. It really depends on the whims of leadership. If they ask you for data, you are expected to return it as soon as possible while having little support on getting the correct data. Pushing back on timelines will receive pushback on why you can't meet that timeline. Unlimited PTO is a farce (which probably shouldn't be surprising for folks that have this "benefit" before) and not only is it limited in the number of days you can take, but it is limited to certain times of the year. I have seen people work/answer pings and calls DURING their time off. Promotions are not dictated by hard work, but rather by company need and "budget" and most of all, politics. As of my departure, it feels like certain areas of the company are run by a skeleton crew - the minimal number of workers to produce a somewhat acceptable output that is a bandage solution to a much larger and deeper-rooted issue. I would highly suggest you look somewhere else for opportunities as there are none here.

Pros

LinkedIn has a strong engineering culture, smart and supportive teammates, and meaningful product impact at a large scale. I have had opportunities to work on complex systems, collaborate with experienced engineers, and learn from cross-functional partners across product, design, data, and infrastructure. The benefits, flexibility, and internal learning resources are also strong.

Cons

Because the organization is large, decision-making can sometimes be slow, and priorities may shift before projects fully mature. Promotion expectations can feel different across teams, and the number of meetings can make it harder to protect deep-focus engineering time. Cross-team ownership is not always as clear as it could be.
