Pros

Committed to educators and education, Macmillan prides itself on on its ability to build affordable products that serve higher education. The company and its management, I believe, has some level of integrity.

Cons

Macmillan has refused to commit to a digital mindset, slow to react to the pandemic pivot and completely incapable of supporting the few digital products they produce. As a result, Reps left because they could not sell in lieu of attempting to service. There were 10yrs to prepare for this type of transition. Middle management has left because the company would not commit the resources needed to support their sales Reps - who were trying to sell digital product. Macmillan in a company in crisis- they must abandon the old publishing ways (and the company leaders who are running it into the ground) and embrace the role of a full service publishing ed tech business. And, they can do this. They can....- but they won't. Additionally, no diversity: Few opportunities for advancement. Few new roles created. But, with a good salary (after you work at other publishers) you can go out to pasture with Macmillan.

Pros

A lot of nice people and great books to work with.

Cons

Very antiquated systems. Sales teams and a lot of teams are in bubbles. There are a good amount of managers and higher ups that have been there for a while (10-30 years) and they don't like change, make their teams life hell, and keep them more siloed.
