Pros

Pay, company car, free chocolate

Cons

My experience with Mars was absolutely terrible. I was misled about the position from the beginning. I was told it was a SALES position. Day one in training comes along and it is actually 100% manual labor, it is NOT sales. I repeat, it is NOT sales. I was in the Walmart division, so all day I would go to 4 stores and drag 300 lb pallets on a pallet jack and hound managers to let me drop them on the floor. You also get endcaps and have to empty all of the merchandise off of them and find where they go on the shelf and stock it before you can do anything. Then you put your heavy (40-67 lbs) boxes of candy on the shelves. The "sales" involved is basically just asking the ignorant walmart managers if you can put your candy out on the floor. Other than that, all you do is drive. No sales or brain-work is involved.

Iconic brands, privately held/family owned, principle based, and relationship based culture.

Cons

Slow decision making. High ratio of recruitment of Sr. Leaders from external companies conflicting with culture.

Pros

I’ve been at Mars (Yorkville site) for about three months as a Quality Systems Senior Specialist, and so far it’s been a great experience. Everyone has been genuinely friendly, welcoming, and willing to help. The culture feels very supportive—people want to see you succeed and are quick to share knowledge and offer guidance. My manager has been amazing and is truly invested in my growth. She’s helped set clear expectations, encouraged development, and provided the tools and support I need to be successful.

Cons

None so far—still new, but my experience has been very positive.
