Pros
- Work life balance is good and flexible working hours - Extra Christmas and summer company shutdowns (adds a few free days to your total holiday) - Good pension scheme (double contributions up to 10%) - Colleagues are generally nice (with a couple of notable exceptions at the manager level) - If you want a job where you won't learn or do much but want to have an easy 9-5 and get paid at the end of the month, PlayStation would be a good fit
Cons
- Work itself is more like a simple Data Analyst role but with the name Data Scientist, with little actual Data Science involved - Few learning and personal growth opportunities available - Slow moving and little innovation (due to company size, but also the kind of people who stay aren't ambitious due to the environment - the more driven employees leave) - A couple of the managers in the UK team are very inexperienced (and quite frankly, bad at their job) due to a couple of quick promotions to manager position and it shows - we recently had an anonymous department-wide survey (with lots of questions, but generally focussed on if you are happy in your job), and the Data Science team had the worst results in the department in which the team sits (of around ~10 other teams). I do see this as a manager-level issue (not director level - the director of the team is OK) - the managers seem to be out for their own gain and not for the gain of their direct reports
