Appallingly difficult to get things done. Was there more than five years as a manager and saw many senior and middle managers.
Some good - Many terrible. Many middle managers are out of touch with the technology they are managing. I.e. Software Managers managing Software Development Teams with no background in software development. Just people managers.
Far too much focus on documenting appraisals which means that the people that spend all year documenting the trivial things they have done get pay rises vs the people who got things done and made the company money do not. Sorry - But that's what I saw had happened frequently as a manager.
Much happier now ive left even though less salary and benefits. Money isn't everything.
