Pros
The tips are good most of the time. The clientele is random which keeps the day interesting. The place is clean and orderly.
Cons
Working in an environment where quantity is more important than quality really bugs me. I've won customers back because of my great customer service and attention to details, but this gets unnoticed. When my haircut goes over 15 minutes I get the "watch your time" lecture, this is the only feedback I get from management. My morale is super low now after only a few months working part-time. The speed freaks (not drugs, haircutting) are getting praise from management but not much from customers. Last I check we're in the person service/hospitality industry. When money comes before people I know I'm not where I belong. I believe that keeping your eye on the ball (who's in your chair) will take care of the scoreboard (money). Obviously though awareness of the rules ultimately earns your keep. This is when management needs to complain! Too much nit-picking!
