Pros
- Chance to work on something that has profound impact on humanity. I believe technology and innovation is great when it solves a problem on hand. The projects that we work here helps farmers fight climate change in a sustainable manner. - Part of teams that use the most cutting edge tech - AI, IOT, Mobile and web apps. I am part of team that works on Javascript (ReactJS, NodeJS). The space is full of genuinely challenging tech problems that any smart engineer would yearn to solve. - While I am writing this review I would like to state that the DPE (Digital Product Engineering) team is at the perfect stage of maturity that is ideal for growth of a techie. We are neither so mature that anyone would fear breaking things before fixing anything; nor are we so young that we follow amateurish tools or methodologies with no clarity of where we are heading. The field is wide open for anyone who wants to come in and disrupt, improvise and make an impact. - The management and leadership is robust, mature and genuinely employee friendly. I feel it's the best balance an org can have. Everyone is made to feel an equal partner, creativity and disruption is encouraged and personal lives are considered to be utmost important. There is a huge emphasis on work life balance, mental and physical well being. - One gets the best of all worlds working here - working for a large and stable profit making organisation (Since 2 years almost everyone here has been getting almost on an average of 130% of performance bonus) as well being part of a relatively young team in digital space trying to solve problems at scale and flexibility to work in a hybrid model. The org structure is such that one is encouraged to speak up, nurtured with care and provided multiple opportunities to grow.
Cons
This is not exactly a con, however I feel Syngenta needs to have a great presence in the tech space. Not many folks know the great opportunities and tech challenges that the engineers here work on and leadership needs to work on promoting it as a cool place to work so that best talent can be attracted and nurtured. - Am also thinking aloud if there could be more structured growth path and visibility for senior folks in India, especially the Senior Managers and leaders.
