Pros

Review is concerned with subsea engineering group only. Other groups may have a different outlook. Please don't read this as a blanket statement on entire organization as it is a large company. 1. Good work life balance in subsea group 2. Significant resources at company disposal due to size. 3. Established workflow procedures to deliver projects on schedule and at good quality 4. Good entry level compensation 5. Good quality colleagues due to above reasons. 6. Time and resources available to learn at the job although training is fairly limited 7. Good benefits in terms of health insurance and vacation options. 8. Limited pressure due to cost or manhours as expectations are generally well managed with client.

Cons

1. Inclination towards bureaucracy due to size. 2. Good entry level company to gain experience for non-US residents but if looking for employment based permanent residency options, it may be necessary to look elsewhere as the subsea group does not usually apply for permanent residency unless explicitly agreed to in the offer. 3. Fairly strong glass ceiling against non-French employees with regard to career progression in the subsea group. 4. Tendency to keep employees in the same role for many years without significant growth. 5. Lateral movement into other areas is generally not feasible for majority of the aspirants.
