Pros
Great working environment with friendly staff and managers. Lots of attempts by management to make the job more fun for servers, which makes the hours pass faster. The employee discount is decent too, at 30% for you and your family every time you eat at the restaurant (whether you are working a shift that day or not).
Cons
Only get a 3 table section, which means at roughly 1 hour per table sitting, and on average 4-5 hour shifts, you don't make much money. I regularly leave with maybe $100 in tips for the night after the tipshare. Also, there is a trend for large parties to be riskier, as they take longer to serve and are more likely to skimp on tipping, sometimes entirely. This has happened to me a few times, with the worst being done to me by the family of a fellow employee. I would love to see a mandatory gratuity put into place for large parties (more than 6 people) in order to help cut down on this issue. I also would love to see Texas Roadhouse implement the same type of system that I know Outback Steakhouse uses, where all employees and their families MUST tip 20% during their own visits or risk losing their employee discount. This would prevent internal tensions from situations like the one I experienced where I lost what should have been a $70 tip from my coworker's family.
