Pros

Helping people find products they genuinely love, the customer-associate relationships, receiving "gratis," working with great people, medium sized retail operation, you don't feel lost in the crowd but you're definitely one of many...decent pay

Cons

unfair treatment (I was promoted, given a raise, and still made the same as just a regular sales associate, yipee!!), corporate management is run by people from hell I am convinced. They are some of the most awful people I have ever experienced. Not to mention they can't hire a competent manager to save their butts. It's all about "titles," and restricting power, and making people low on the totem pole. not a team oriented environment, people are too worried about how much they're making and what their "title" is to do any productive work, egos, diva personalities, stupid people who have no business working in retail, let alone management, really high turnover rate, but what do you expect when you treat your employees like dog crap?

Pros

If you like helping people find skincare and makeup that suits them, it's a nice place to be--plus you get to take home some products for free every once in a while as gratis!

Cons

Your Ulta credit card is in danger of being heavily used--whoops! Also, even if you really know your stuff and are in the middle of speaking with customers, if they need someone at the register, they will replace you on the floor with a Prestige Beauty Advisor, which was always super disappointing. Especially if you've already established rapport with the guest and their cart is getting full. Also, customers have shared feeling racially profiled, being closely followed. Not cool. Something to keep in mind so you don't accidentally do that if you're part of the team.
