Pros
Old benefits plan was like working for gov't - set for life. Being large, could take advantage of lateral moves to broaden experience and satisfaction. Robust training programs. If you wanted training, you could get it. The laser focus on safe work through clear communications.
Cons
Current business model in Sudbury is wasting incredible talent and value generation from unique natural resources. Many decisions amount to stepping on a 5 dollar bill to pick up a dime. Empires. Nepotism. Corruption. Whomever yells loudest gets rewarded. Lack of courageous leadership. Long-employed staff just put their heads in the sand and pray for 30 years and out. Selfish, spoiled front-line children...er...workforce with no appreciation of the need for long-term health of the business to sustain themselves/their offspring/their community. Ridiculous hourly timekeeping system built in the stone age. Enter/transfer information dozens of times instead of enforcing a single management information system with single points of data entry. This business model cannot last forever. Entrenched workforce needs reality check beyond the Sudbury bubble.
