Horrific - Anonymous employee Zara Employee Review

- No humanity, no room for human error. - Staff are all depressed. Forced to wear knit wear uniform in height of summer. - Unfair treatment of long serving staff who ask for more opportunities to grow. - Management make a ridiculously big deal about small things ie wanting to swap a shift. - Shift times are changed without 24 hours notice. - HR at all levels is condescending and two faced. They seem to think working at Zara is a privilege and staff should get over how poorly they are treated. - Floor staff just call in sick because it's such a toxic and stressful environment, meaning the rest of the team is stretched, meaning more people call in sick the next day and so the cycle goes on. - Massively high turnover meaning new staff members get thrown in the deep end with very little understanding of what to do because everything has to be done the specific "Zara" way. - Many team members are hired with very little experience to draw on let alone minimal grasp on English language, but are expected to know everything from the get go. - Non management are treated as sub human. - Staff are asked to be present 10 mins before starting shift, and aren't paid for this. Arriving to brief AT 850 for a 9am shift is considered late and noted down and reported back to HO - I was lied to about salary when offered the role, and discovered this is common. Ie offered the role at a certain salary then told there was 'a mistake' in the advertisement and they couldn't offer that amount. - No tea or coffee or even napkins, basic kitchen amenities provided, someone had to bring their own tea towel in to use for a store team of dozens. - Store managers are under a ludicrous amount of pressure from Spain at any point in time which trickles down through the store team Absolutely abhorrent work place that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. No culture, no joy.
