Pros

Studio itself treats you well with great benefits, swag and food.

Cons

Middle management (Art Leads) are incredibly over bearing managing every tiny detail of your work. There is absolutely no room for creativity. This is a "do exactly what you are told" studio. People tend to disappear (get fired) for trying to buck that system.

Pros

- The benefits are phenomenal - The people are generally awesome - Being a privately held company makes a lot of chaos

Cons

- This is one of the worst leadership teams I've ever had the displeasure of being associated with - They are cowards who don't know how to have tough conversations, performance system is a joke where you can't know your rating, managers dont know the salaries of their employees and everyone just puts on a plastic smile because they all get quarterly bonuses - This is a very juvenile and emotionally stunted executive team with no actual business experience scaling, strategizing or running companies, and after several bad acquisitions and swearing in June they weren't doing layoffs, they did a 20% layoff including FOUR companies that had just been acquired. They pulled me out of consulting for the worst year of my life and a good reminder of why I went into HR Consulting.

Pros

100% FULL Health coverage Awesome-- retirement match! - the max the law allows and immediately vested! Free food and drinks – literally a full 7-11 convenience store in the kitchen. They could open it up to the public and charge lol. (I get royalties, it’s my idea) Awesome, hip, Work hard BUT play hard environment. VERY fun, caring, giving atmosphere. Other departments just as awesome as yours! Talented employees in EVERY dept. Premiere access to video games, VR and other awesome new stuff. Be the first to play the PS5 or XBOX 1000 (or whatever they name the next new gaming rig)  No stuffy dress code – shorts and t-shirts allowed. Onsite Gym, games, and countless other perks.

Cons

Epic used to have a family cohesive unit mentality. They have abandoned that and have gone much more corporate. Lost a little bit of personal touch there. TONS of veteran employees left – some to work for the competition. But lots of new talent coming in. Last minute / do not plan ahead for large tasks; then upset when it takes forever to implement or why there are problems. Very typical = “I knew about this for 2 weeks, but I’m telling you today, could care less if you are here till 2am, I need this. Can this be done by tomorrow so we can present it live on GTV? No? Well, it needs to be done…” Unfortunately if it causes issues, you are to blame, not the person who waited till last minute.
