Pros

* Pay, raises, and bonuses are decent * Benefits are great with the exception of the stingy number of vacation/holiday days (Judy can't afford to give employees a full day off for Christmas Eve, apparently) * The landscaping is beautiful when you're able to get outside * A lot of coworkers are generally smart people

Cons

* There are a shockingly high number of TLs who are absolutely terrible at their jobs (either managing team members or projects or both) but face zero repercussions for doing poorly at either or both * Workplace atmosphere is absolutely toxic and competitive instead of collaborative * Epic likes to pretend that it has a "feedback culture," but the only feedback that's truly welcomed is toeing the company line (which in turn is a prerequisite for being "promoted" to a TL)

Really glad I moved on

Pros

- Food is great. Really food is the only positive I see in Epic. Was my first job out of college and really brought into the cult like culture that is preached during monthly staff meetings. Until I got married and had a kid, things started getting sour when I decided not to bring work to my personal life.

Cons

- Very bad WLB - Outdated tech for developers - Stressful work culture in the name of aggressive deadlines - Old software engineering practices - Bad TL's and management

Pros

Great compensation, especially in you early years. Also a great place to improve your soft skills very quickly if you are filling a customer facing role.

Cons

I left Epic at about a month shy of my 6th year. Epic as a company did a poor job supporting their employees during COVID. Between the multiple instances of them making the news for not following the CDC recommendations for work despite being a healthcare company to their clear desire to bring people back into office as quick as possible because of their own choices on campus development, the final year of my employment was miserable. My own mental health suffered heavily during this time which I shared with my team lead. Despite my previous work performance, I was told that I was going to be let go based on a single customers feedback after 5+ good years of employment during the hardest year of my life. Yet they wanted me to work another 8 months with a planned departure of November just so I didn't leave a high profile customer in a bad situation. What kind of company plans an employees departure in the middle of a pandemic 8 months in advance when they have 5 years of work history with them? Why would I ever stay?
