Implementation is awful.

Pros

Plenty of miserable people with the same problems you'll have if you join the company. Misery loves company.

Cons

Don't expect to become a team lead unless you act like you're still in a frat. Team leads don't care if you're good at what you do. They don't know the system as well as a 6-month implementer because they no longer use the system but they act like they do.

Pros

- Small company, so many responsibilities and exposure - If you are lucky, you will get to work on new technologies

Cons

- Outdated backend (Cache an unknown database tech) and majority of the systems (VB6)

Pros

- I love the culture here and the feeling that I am really helping my customers and their patients. I find it really fulfilling. I don't mind drinking the "Epic kool aid", it "tastes" pretty good. - The campus is very unique, they have good food, dress is whatever you want if you're not with customers (I see people wearing PJ pants). Vacation is standard other than the month long sabbatical every five years. Health insurance plans have been really good in my experience. - I think work/life balance isn't horrible, especially if you are efficient at work and learn to find your own balance. Sure, I sometimes work from home on the weekends or in the evening, but I usually don't. I have a spouse and young kids to be with, and I feel like my work doesn't cause a huge burden on that. I tend to work between 45 and 50 hours a week.

Cons

- It's true that this job is fairly high stress and a lot is expected of you. Sometimes this adds up to a lot of work and/or/stress. This can be worse on some applications that others; I know several people who burned out or weren't able to meet expectations because they were on a team/had a boss who had much less realistic expectations than I've seen personally. - I find that it's also difficult to know how you stand compared to other employees and Epic's expectations; I know several people who were let go after they had been working here 4+ years and didn't realise that they weren't "meeting expectations".
