Pros

There are so many intelligent people from all across the country who work here. I made great friends who are incredibly motivated, supportive, and driven.

Cons

TLDR: Constant overtime to get everything done due to artificially accelerated timelines due to clients’ budget restraints; rushed pipeline of poor managers due to high turnover. The constant overtime was exhausting and led to my burnout. Project timelines were tight because of budgetary restrictions on the client side, making days feel compressed due to a high volume of meetings. I had to work overtime to get tasks done on time for artificially accelerated due dates. Additionally, my manager was incredibly inexperienced when it came to managing people, and she made an already stressful situation 10x worse because of unrealistic expectations and coddling the client. Because of high turnover, Epic promotes inexperienced individuals into application managers quickly, creating a downstream effect of poorly managed application coordinators, and many of my AC friends shared similar experiences of facing large stress due to their managers being unreliable.

Demanding but Rewarding

Pros

Epic is the right fit for someone who is hardworking, can handle stress, and is always looking to grow. It is a demanding place to work, and the team you land on can affect that experience. But it is also extremely rewarding. You grow a lot here, and Epic genuinely invests in you, whether that is teaching you new skills or even paying for outside education. The work is hard but is interesting, pays well, comes with good benefits, and the people around you tend to be similarly motivated, which makes a real difference day to day. For the right person, I would recommend it without hesitation.

Cons

The job can be demanding and stressful. Occasional longer hours.
