Not how they present it

Pros

Internal education, free membership and continuing ed opportunities

Cons

Blow smoke up potential employees to get them to sign up with promise to gain over 100k as a trainer. For a company makes billions a year and charges their memebers up the wazoo for memberships and services that wants you to be there over full time to “build your business” (really build theirs) they only pay you for 15 hours at minimum wage. You have to be a sales person to succeed. They praise the sellers and some of these sellers are not good trainers. On top of having to put in free hours while working the floor to be able to engage in members they make you wear a different color shirt when the members avoid talking to trainers like the plague. Its crazy to work two weeks and make 300$ (Less if you have insurance for yourself and or the family relying on your income as a source of support or health benefits) and because of the random meeting times and rotating yet unpredictable floor shifts you cant really rely on a second job unless youre doing Uber or lyft or selling blood (not a lie some trainers told me they've literally had to do this ) Chik fil A pays its employees more hourly as do many lower end jobs. Because of the pay situation there or lack thereof there is a rotating door of trainer turnovers. Many trainers with YEARS of experience or relevent degrees seek employement with Equinox do so because of the potential as once you do have clients your commission is nice but even their best trainers burned through savings waiting to reach full time and or their career goals. I believe they hire fresh trainers and focus on educating them so they dont know any better and what they deserve

Pros

By far the best pro is being able to utilize the gym and using your employee discount at the shop. That being said, you can get a better paying job elsewhere (and just pay for membership) and buy stuff at nordstom rack.

Cons

Life is great at Equinox for a short while. Pretty soon you begin to realize how much Equinox does not live by their values. Front Desk staff are constantly looking at these "values" on screensavers placed on the desk. Things like "open and honest communication" are not a thing here. Management will send emails from noreply addresses. When getting hired you are told you get 40% everything - not true. Discounts vary from 0-40%. They pay is very sad for a company that charges their members so much. As a front desk manager I was always forced to short staff the desk so that we would stay under the "budget", which no matter the month would always decrease. It is hard to hire any good talent when they are being payed $9. When I wanted to give an employee a raise, it was either denied or only increase by literally pennies. I have never been at a company that treats its employees like they are disposable. When Equinox HQ does something wrong, it is the front desk that has to answer the phone, not our CEO.

Your Life Will be Work

Pros

Met some great people! You will gain CRM experience, and fully understand the sales process.

Cons

Welcome back to high school. If you enjoy gossiping about coworkers more than growing as a professional, this is the place for you. Witnessed direct insubordination day in and day out between management and coworkers. Management will be all smiles and high fives, then talk trash behind your back. Had very few people I could genuinely trust. Support was very minimal, and the job is mostly trial by fire. You will receive a week of training, and then you are on your own. When you are performing well, you are the golden child and everyone loves you. When you are struggling its every man for himself, and suddenly management is no where to be found. Be prepared to make this job your life, as there is zero balance. The only way to hit the ludicrous sales targets, is to come early, stay late, and come in on your much needed days of rest. Management will guilt you into doing so. If you don't? They will be passive aggressive, and make you feel as if you're not giving it your all. Last 4 days of the month are 12 hour days. The base pay is VERY low, for what they expect of you. In the end, the company only cares about its bottom line and not the employees.
