Good benefits, friendly people, good hours, competitive pay, understanding management, good possibility of upward movement, new ideas are encouraged and cultivated

Cons

Some issues never get addressed or are stalled because of the Union and human resources trying to do the right thing. The stalling prevent some issues of being solved ultimately.

Co-workers are okay, but you will see most qualified people leave for better jobs.

Cons

The higher you go in management in IT the less qualified they are. Many directors don't have any real experience with IT and are out of touch. The c level only remembers the punch cards days. Every couple of years they randomly lay off a couple of employees, not fired or quit, just randomly laid off. It could be you next year, unless your smart enough to move on.
