Pros

-Mid to senior management on syndicated research is generally attentive to everyday employee needs and creates an environment with work-life balance/minimizes stress as much as possible -Syndicated product fills some interesting niches especially when considering coverage of smaller, less developed countries -Although in decline since the pandemic, occasional interesting opportunities to interact with clients, at conferences and internal insights team meetings, do come up

Cons

-While their is a defined career progression path, it can seem arbitrary. Do we really need five steps before you become a people manager? Step up from analyst to senior analyst can feel like little more than a title change. Sense of progression is important. -Research methodology can be HIGHLY dubious. If I feel we don't have the ability to provide a reasonable estimate for a figure, why am I pushed to essentially guess? Client conversations/trade interviews were often held up as the linchpin of EMI's methodology and analysts are encouraged to chase them even though they often did not yield actionable information.

Pros

Some good clients, 13 month salary

Cons

The SG consulting leadership is pathetic resulting in extremely high turnover and low employee morale. Poor planning and staffing leading to no proper work life balance. Extremely high workload with poor people managers and zero career development. The consulting leadership locally is also a result of worsening global consulting leadership with people not addressing issues and trying to overlook the mess. Head brought in from other country who made things a lot worse and went back but internally positioned as a betterment.
