Pros

A mission driven organization that values market driven solutions and long term sustainability. Good pay and great benefits. Office location is right between Dupont and Shaw.

Cons

Due to the separation of FINCA International and the for-profit FINCA Microfinance Holdings, change is the norm at moment. I personally love this and it allows you to make your voice heard and have an immediate impact, but for those individuals used to bloated and bureaucratic NGOs that move slow, this might not be the ideal environment.

Pros

- Making an impact - empowering low income people around the world to take control of their financial future. Every challenge we resolve in our daily work contributes to the resolution of the challenges that many people face around the world. Our employees feel grateful and proud to make an impact on our mission to alleviate poverty through lasting solutions that help people build assets, create jobs and raise their standard of living. - Great benefits: medical and dental fully covered for the employees, 401k, discounted gym, pre-tax spending accounts (health care, dependent care, transportation benefits), tuition reimbursement program, 8 paid holidays, 3 floating holidays, generous paid leave based on length of service - Diverse Team & Global Reach with subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East and South Asia, employing 10,000+ people, FINCA's geographic reach is among the widest of the leading microfinance networks. - Profession Development opportunities - our international network of 21 subsidiaries on five continents offers an abundance of career options that span a wide array of disciplines, with endless opportunities to learn and grow. - Being at the forefront of a changing industry: FINCA uses innovative methods to expand access to financial services: mobile banking, agency banking, biometrics. FINCA is piloting the use of handheld tablets to capture household information from clients, allowing for faster and more accurate data collection. Being a part of these changes provides valuable opportunities to grow professionally and, ultimately, make an even greater difference in the future.

Cons

Dynamic changing environment, those that are used to a more stable structure may find it challenging.

Pros

Great mission & well meaning people

Cons

CEO and certain others taking huge sums out of the company!! Chaotically run; very little strategy. In the long run the great dysfunction will hurt the cause of helping the global poor, ironically.
