Great organization

Pros

Great cause. Great benefits. Depending on the department, the hours are not bad and it is possible to have a work life balance. Friendly staff. Ability to develop new skills.

Cons

The organization is going through a restructure so a number of people have lost their jobs (which explains some of the recent negative reviews on Glassdoor). Existing staff have had to take on heavier workloads.

Pros

Great mission and international development work. Lots of energized hard working people. Fun to be working with lots of different countries and people from different places. Nice offices and location.

Cons

There is change going on and some disgruntled people who don't like change have left. A company has to work through that sometimes. Hopefully the sour ones are gone now.

Serious Leadership Crisis Across the Board

Anonymous employee

Business Outlook

Pros

- Mission - International team - Talented colleagues

Cons

- No training, mentorship or career tracks for FINCA International team members - Antithesis of good management and leadership principles across the board - Culture of fear, secrecy & communication silos. You have to collaborate behind the scenes and have internal alliances with people you trust just to get things done. - Internal politics are placed above all else at the senior most level. - Lack of moral / values-based leadership. Egos dominate the Senior Executives. - The organization is in a financial crisis, brining out the worst in all - No accountability for leadership and management - Rewards, salaries, promotions, etc. are subjective and relationship-based. It is an open secret that high-paying positions which do not contribute to the company are created and protected for incompetent senior managers who have the right connections. - There is literally zero reward or recognition for staff based on talents, contributions, value-creation, and results. - Top-down performance reviews
