Pros

I enjoy working with my team, everyone is smart and cares about not just doing work, but doing great work. First team where we regularly take on retrospectives and process improvements sprint over sprint so our work continues to get better and better. There's also an impressive amount of women in leadership roles.

Cons

This "start up" has grown amazingly fast which leads us to a lot of growing pains. There's a distinct lack of process and operations that teams of our scale need. We are working on it, and it's definitely a bit of building the train while riding it.

Worst Leadership I've ever seen

Pros

Salary, work from home benefits, office/internet/gym stipend. Employees are amazing here (besides leadership). People are willing to work with each other and collaborate to make great projects. They are open to feedback and thinking about things in new ways. The employees are trying to create an amazing work culture, which is difficult from a fully-remote company.

Cons

Leadership is absolute rubbish. Atmosphere and culture are big lies. Leadership does not care about the individual employee and they make some of the most unorganized decisions ever. I get that this is a startup but I've never seen worse leadership before in my career. This company is detrimentally unorganized, leadership does not track projects properly. In addition to poor organization leadership just doesn't know how to run a company or ask for information from their employees. Their directions are unclear and they feel as if you don't like them if you keep asking them questions to clarify their requests. Leadership does not live up to their own Fortis values. They do not provide ANY transparency in their decisions, they do not feel as if they need to. They just assign you the work and are not open for any differing ideals. There are many times in which I feel shunned for having a different opinion, and I often do not feel heard of appreciated. Your work is extremely undervalued here. Leadership will ask for documentation and information but will never read what you send them, then a week later they will ask you for the same information that is in the document you sent them last week... If you expect to be valued at a company, go elsewhere.
