Pros

Great company brand, decent culture, and the product basically sells itself. If you want to just coast in your career for 2 years without getting fired, this is the place for you

Cons

You cannot trust Google Cloud to ever pay you correctly. Sales ops and finance play by different rules. If you know your commissions are paid out incorrectly, which every deal of mine has, they take another entire quarter to pay you. The recruiters hit you with a low base salary banking on the "additional perks and benefits". Don't be fooled the insurance is still more expensive monthly than other tech companies I have worked for and if you are in sales you are rarely in the office to benefit from free food. I wish there was an option to opt out of the enhanced free goodies and just get a normal and competitive salary. They also changed the program to a 40/60 plan. Meaning 60% of your pay is variable based on your performance. Leadership down to management have different ideas on how to be successful. Our comp plans are not aligned to our performance reviews. Leadership wants to focus on consumption, meanwhile your direct manager thinks that showing off your sales skills is tied to customer contracts. Oh and then to top it off signing a customer to a long term contract only equates to 25% of your overall variable commission. So what you might estimate your commission check is on a deal, you might as well just take 1/4 of that, and that is what you might actually get paid 6mo - 12 mo later. It is obvious management doesn't know what it takes to sell Google Cloud. They want us to be Account Reps (hunters), Account Managers, and Customer Success Reps (ensuring consumption goes up and find new workloads) but yet they pay us like we are young children out of college. Don't even get me started on internal tools or process to actually sell a deal. Just assume it will at minimum take you 3 weeks to sell any size of deal because you have to go to 15 different systems. AND if you want to try to see what actually closed is a home grown systems. You can't count on Xactly or any real sales compensation application. You will spend most of your time as a sales person fighting tickets, fighting leadership, submitted billing cases, clicking between 100 different web tabs just to try to attempt your job. Lastly, they only give you title changes once every 2 years. So you really better negotiate that base salary and levels ahead of time. There is no ESPP you only get boring stock refreshes. I am disappointed I've wasted so much time here thinking it would get better. Now management just decided to completely 1/2 our account list and 1/2 our ceiling to make some serious money. If you're into making serious money for how hard you work, look elsewhere. You have been warned. Good luck
