Pros

It’s a job, there are some tips (but not good ones).

Cons

Clientele are dirty, cheap, and rude. Salons are almost always so dirty and in disrepair it’s embarrassing. The tips stink-expect to be “stuffed” frequently. Horribly abusive environment from the staff/management to the clients. Expect to be told you are the problem, not them...because EVERYONE I know that has worked for GC has had that line fed to them. Pay is way below industry standards.

Pros

They furnish equipment and starting pay is 10 an hour for everyone.

Cons

When busy you will not get a lunch break even though it is mandated by law to get a 20 minute every 5 hours on a 7 hour shift or more. Little chance for a raise and targets are not within a normal person's abilities. Gas stations pay 10 an hour.. just go work there. Very anti-gay and not inclusive to all. You can do better, do not waste your time

Pros

Benefits, style of management and pay rates can vary depending on the franchisee but overall the opportunities are endless and the benefits are excellent, which is rare in this profession.

Cons

Not for those who prefer a more laid back salon atmosphere. For me, I love the fast pace and constant work but at times it can be exhausting. Pace yourself.
